Kooks LS1 Long-Tube Headers
Featured in "Hot Rod "
February 2007
GM engineers did a pretty good job designing the LS1’s exhaust manifolds to the point where the first sets of aftermarket shorty headers to hit the market in the late-’90s sometimes produced less powerthan the stock hardware they replaced. It wasn’t until long-tubes came out a few years later that alarming gobs of power were uncorked. Internet reports of 25-35 rear-wheel horsepower gains are common, but figures that high from a single bolt-on mod have a way of raising suspicions, especially when the dyno numbers are not accompanied by actual track testing. |
